Job Description
• Graduate or Post Graduate in Commerce or Accounts with 2-3 years of experience in shipping industry with preferably in similar role.
• Excellent communication, advanced excel, tally skills with proficiency in using MS office tools, operating systems (Windows) and general office purpose web, software and applications.
• Knack for accounts, enjoys crunching numbers and analyzing data and managing information.
• Ability to work individually and in team or as leader/ manager with speed, accuracy and quality.
• Self-motivated and flexible with ability to multi-task and prioritize across multiple projects.
Once hired, the successful candidate will
• Be responsible for full life cycle of fleet accounting, expenses management, and journal/ledger entries across gamut of categories of entire fleet and sub provisions onboard ships.
• Maintain expenses records and taxonomize according to shipping nomenclature.
• Meticulously prepare records of capital expenditures, bond stores, deck stores, engine spares, surveys, dry docking, slop chest, radio charges and lube oils among other expenses.
• Consider most appropriate and specified mode of payment (cash, chq and online transfers) depending upon criticality and nature of transactions.
• Timely complete release of all scheduled payments, reimbursements and other transactions.
• Maintain receipts and proofs of all transactions for internal and external audits.
• Accurately calculate and cross check all fleet expenses, crew wages, outstanding dues and deductions related to demurrage, overtime, allowance and victualing and other fleet expenses.
• Support the overall payroll administration, reconcile and update all accounting records (payables/ receivables and trial balance) in the relevant spreadsheets and associated software.
• Monitor, analyze and prepare fleet accounting reports and dashboards for management review.

Work Profile
- Knowledge of excise / cst / vat
- Knowledge of all government taxes , like service tax, TDS, etc
- Filling of all statutory reports with the government agencies
- Coordinating with the insurance company
- Entries in Tally
- Banking – bank reco, interest calculation, submission of monthly stock statements, etc
- Monthly P&L preparing, BS preparing
- Coordinating with the CA
- Getting all audit done
- Making payment to suppliers – RM, PM, Transport, etc
- Buying of locally purchased items
- Monthly payments of salary, wages, power, etc
- Follow up for refund – power, incentive, VAT, etc
- Coordinating with company secretary for ROC related work
- Preparing monthly MIS reports – like – yield, average cost price, etc
